A lot of big ISP are asking big content providers (like Google, Yahoo, eBay or Amazon) to pay additional fees for using the network as the basis of their business, in a movement to get even more money that what they are currently winning.
The big ISPs get money from the content providers, as they are paying huge bills for the bandwith they spend (I would like to know the incredible bill Google pays only in bandwith) and, at the same time, also get money from the home clients, as everyone who has an Internet connection has to pay an ISP to get the connectivity.
So, they are currently billing both ends of the connection, but they want to charge even more to one of those ends, the one who wins a lot of money. I think this is an incredibly greedy strategy and I hope it doesn’t pay itself. Can you imagine television makers asking to Fox or ABC to pay them for using the TV receiver to display their programs? Incredibly stupid, no? So is what the ISPs are asking.
